The word ‘seersucker’ is derived from the Hindi word ‘sirsakar’ and as a fabric, it was perfect for the hot climate of Colonial India and thence found it’s way here. Traditionally made in blue and white, I like to mix it up a little. Here’s a beautiful fabric made in Italy, by Angelico, that reinvents seersucker in a wool and cotton blend. The material is so fine you can see light through it and is perfect for sunny afternoons. One of the advantages of being ‘puckered’ is that it’s crease resistant. I’ve designed this jacket with minimal internal structure so it’s super light and comfortable. Roll on summer….
